IP telephony (IPT) turns voice communication into an application on the data network. Compared to traditional voice communication, IPT offers additional flexibility, applications and application integration options.
Since more and more organisations are adopting IP as their networking standard, more and more of them are recognising that they can run IP Telephony services on the same network as their computers. They save on call costs, because thousands of calls are now routed across the internal network, and they save operational costs, because they have only one network to maintain instead of two.
