Infrastructure as a Service (Servers/Storage)
Many customers are expressing the desire and need to move from Capital intensive wholly owned and designed IT platforms towards secure and flexible IT platforms, paid for as used – the “OPEX” model – often referred to as “Utility”.
Getronics Core provides utility based infrastructure services in a private cloud model. Service provision is set up and modified to customers’ specific requirements and desires. There are three models available to customers wishing to consume services from the Getronics Core IaaS platform.
There are three models available to customers wishing to consume services from the Getronics Core IaaS platform, namely;
Pay as you go – ideal for test and development environments
Getronics creates packages of infrastructure and service that can be switched on and off as required & demanded by the customer’s requirements. The packages are built to customers test and development environment needs, with all necessary network and security boundaries built in.
Standard – designed for optimal cost/ performance with flexibility
Getronics builds the customer environment in our private cloud, with all customer specific architecture requirements built in. The environment is then available for customers to tune on demand, adding or removing resources as business need dictates using the portal supplied.
Bespoke – resources on demand, complete control
Getronics allocates the resources to the customer, who has complete control over the allocation of the resources. The portal allows the customer to add or remove resources as required.
All models make use of a common infrastructure provided by Getronics and is metered and billed to customers on a consumption and service basis.

Customers are able to select different service arrangements on a system or group of systems basis, it is also possible to move systems within the Utility and Standard hosting models. The combination of systems and services can be completely tuned to customers’ specific situation and applications.
Getronics has developed a unique, completely standardised platform for Core. The platform includes a provisioning tool set for server capacity, storage capacity, network connectivity, operating systems and applications.
These elements can be delivered completely automatically in different versions. Getronics has agreements with suppliers to keep reserve capacity in the datacentres at all times, so that we can satisfy virtually any request immediately.
The following resources are metered:
- Processing Capacity
All services use one resource pool in which both virtual and physical systems can be rolled out on demand.
- Storage Capacity
All services use a central physical Storage Area Network (SAN) and Backup infrastructure that is virtualised to meet customer needs. The storage subsystem is a 4 tier system ranging from very high speed disks to archive disk. An offsite data service is available. Tier 1 storage is available with fully synchronous replication to another datacentre, tier 2 and 3 storage support asynchronous replication.
- Network Capacity
All services use the same infrastructure, but customer environments are strictly separated from one another and are secured against break-in or external influence. In all Getronics IaaS models the network will be designed and built to customer requirements.
- Monitoring & Management
All services use central monitoring, alarms and reporting facilities as well as being centrally managed using standardised tools and applications.
Connecting your business
Getronics can make this service available by establishing connectivity between Getronics and Customer networks. The IaaS service can be used as a stand-alone or can be used in conjunction with Getronics wider service offerings.
The ability to take capacity on demand allows expansion without extensive Capex investment.
